New lab-on-a-chip diagnostic tool processes blood faster

Harvard researchers have developed an advanced microfluidic device that could help identify an increased variety of cancers through blood sample analysis. The new device is an upgrade of a similar device developed in 2007, according to the study published in the journal Science Translational Medicine. The device's multiple chips allow more blood to be processed, which could help detect cancers in the early stages, when tumor cells are not common.
