Should Ireland restrict the number of trainee teachers?

Irish National Teachers' Organisation General Secretary Sheila Nunan says the country actually is training too many teachers and urged the government to take certain precautions to protect the profession. Many teachers in Ireland train only to find there are no available jobs, she said. "Student teachers train at huge expense for jobs that don't exist and in the long term we know it will damage professionalism," she said.
