Study: Smaller plates mean less food intake for children

Approximately 80% of 42 elementary-school students who used adult-sized dishes took an average of 90 more calories of food, compared with using child-sized dishes, according to a recent study. Researchers noted that children who put more food on their plates were more likely to consume more.
