TV tax provision is dumped by Tenn. legislative panel

A subcommittee in Tennessee's House of Representatives has removed a provision from a business-tax bill that satellite TV companies said would have amounted to a new tax on their service. The provision would have changed a certain county tax into a state tax, meaning satellite TV companies would be subject to it. "The House panel deleted that provision without debate on motion of [state] Rep. David Alexander," writes Tom Humphrey.
