Balancing internal and external faculty hiring can bring diversity and value to colleges and universities, Rick Mann, president of Crown College, writes in this blog post. Bringing in new hires and promoting from within can bring about innovation and new skills that boost the whole institution, while getting off campus can also help, Mann writes. "Getting your faculty, staff, and administration out into conferences and additional training can be a great hedge on the future," he added.
