Shanghai seeks better data on unemployment trends

Shanghai plans to refine its data collection on unemployment, a municipal government official said. The city's statistics department will survey about 20,000 households twice a year to find out family members' occupations, income, and living conditions. The city of more than 17 million has a recorded unemployment rate of 4.3%.
