Y-12 completes transfer of enriched uranium to HEUMF

Officials at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn., said they have completed transferring enriched uranium from a warehouse into the Highly Enriched Uranium Materials Facility. The move was ahead of schedule and allowed for about $26 million in savings. The enriched uranium will be used to aid in the country's nuclear deterrent effort, as well as for research and reactors producing medical isotopes.
