Injections of hyaluronic acid gel might be an option for women who want breast enhancement but do not want to undergo surgery, says Dr. Per Heden, an associate professor of plastic surgery at Karolinska Institute in Sweden. "It provides immediate results with minimal discomfort, and in clinical trials, it was associated with high ratings of breast general appearance, shape and firmness," Heden says. However, absorption is difficult to predict and complications such as capsular contracture can occur, he says.
