RFA, others throw support behind RFS in federal lawsuit

The Renewable Fuels Association, the Advanced Ethanol Council and four other groups filed a joint motion in federal court to intervene in a lawsuit initiated by an oil-industry group against the Environmental Protection Agency's Renewable Fuel Standard. In their filing, the groups said that tampering with the RFS, as sought by the American Petroleum Institute, would prevent their members from reaping the benefits of their biofuels investments. "API's challenge would reduce the standards set by Congress and EPA and deprive members of the benefit of the investments made in reliance on Congress' policy choices," the groups said in a statement.
