Statement targets reduction of nosocomial infections in NICUs

The American Academy of Pediatrics' committees on Fetus and Newborn and on Infectious Diseases issued a joint statement highlighting the importance of good hand hygiene in preventing nosocomial infections in neonatal intensive care units. Committee members also suggested strategies for preventing central line-associated bloodstream infection as well as health care-associated pneumonia.
