AAFP gives qualified endorsement to 2 sets of guidelines

The AAFP gave qualified endorsements to pediatric tonsillectomy guidelines developed by the American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head & Neck Surgery Foundation and recommendations for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in hospitalized patients, which were released by the American College of Physicians. Although in each case, the overall guideline development process was satisfactory by AAFP standards, Academy reviewers found the grading of some recommendations in each guideline was inconsistent with evidence.
