Boy in India receives 1-kilogram above-the-knee prosthesis

A 12-year-old boy in Chennai, India, received an ultra-light, above-the-knee prosthesis that weighs only 1 kilogram this month. Comparable prostheses normally weigh up to 15 kilograms, and doctors at the Government General Hospital, where the boy was treated, are considering using more of the lightweight devices in the future. The boy is receiving training on how to use the prosthesis at the Ottobock training center, which is also in Chennai.
