Calif. dispatchers learn benefits, challenges of NG9-1-1

Sacramento, Calif., dispatchers are learning about the benefits of Next Generation 9-1-1 technology that will allow people to send them video and text data from mobile devices. Sacramento Police Department dispatch supervisor Jena Swafford said being able to see video will help dispatchers get a more accurate view of the emergency, but some officials are worried that seeing events could add to dispatcher stress. "If you're watching it live, it is imprinted. It's never going to go away," sheriff's department instructor Capt. Michael Goold said.
