Companies remain leery of social media

The Securities and Exchange Commission has said companies can disseminate information via social media, but many companies remain wary of using the services. Currently, only 14.4% of companies talk with shareholders via social media, according to The Wall Street Journal. "We're sort of in uncharted waters here as to how [companies] take advantage of this," said Anne Sheehan of the California State Teachers' Retirement System.
