Energy chief nominee makes case for boosting natural gas consumption

The U.S. should step up its natural gas consumption as part of its effort against global warming, said energy secretary nominee Ernest Moniz. A "stunning increase" in domestic natural gas output was a "revolution" that helped curb greenhouse-gas emissions, he said during a Senate confirmation hearing. Moniz also expressed his support for gas exports but said applications for export licenses should be judged on a case-by-case basis.
