ESRD patient survey finds optimistic view of prognosis

A survey of end-stage renal disease patients on dialysis found 92% believed their health would be stable or improve, according to Berkshire Medical Center research reported at a kidney conference. Dr. Krishna Manda said ESRD patients need to talk to their physicians about their prognosis and be better informed, adding hospice services are under-utilized in this group even though 80% of survey participants said it was important to know about them.
