J.C. Penney has sacked CEO Ron Johnson and rehired his predecessor, Myron Ullman in a resounding rejection of the former Apple retail chief's vision for reinventing the big-box retailer. Some say Johnson's failure at J.C. Penney suggests that his successes at Apple may have been due more to the company's stellar product line than to his retail genius. "American companies put too much faith in the magic touch of supposed wunderkinds who may have just gotten lucky," writes Daniel Gross.
