Firm hopes purchase of U.S. ethanol plant will help U.K. project

U.K.-based Vireol's acquisition of a failed barley-to-ethanol plant in the U.S. could provide the impetus the company needs to move forward on its delayed wheat-to-ethanol project in Grimsby, England. About two-thirds of the U.S. facility will be torn down, shipped and reassembled at the site of Vireol's U.K. project site, where construction is due to begin in early 2014. "This development takes us a couple of significant steps closer to completion," said Vireol CEO Dave Knibbs.
