Oil spill prompts Repsol to stop North Slope drilling

Repsol temporarily stopped exploration drilling at a well in Alaska's North Slope after a hose ruptured, spilling approximately 6,600 gallons of crude oil, produced-water and other fluids. The company has already deployed cleanup workers and is working on repairs, said Tom DeRuyter, on-scene response coordinator for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Repsol's drilling program won't be significantly affected by the incident, said Jan Sieving, the company's vice president for public affairs.
