Proposals call for changes to English, tech education in Japan

Officials in Japan are considering an overhaul of English-language education that would include, among other things, a greater focus on teaching the practical use of the language. A panel also proposing changes to science and maths education, as well as enhanced information and communications technology education, recommended additional spending on education -- to include an investment in tablet computers for primary- and junior-high students.
