Some insurance companies have denied business-interruption claims filed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, saying that a power outage that closed businesses was caused by flooding, not the storm itself. Business owners have had to decide whether to rack up legal fees to challenge the denials or give up and absorb their losses. "[H]ow many people have the time, money and knowledge to fight this? I need to get back to work," said Jeffrey Zurofsky, who runs a sandwich chain.
