Technology helps N.C. hospital improve patient flow management

Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, N.C., saw faster patient admissions, reduced hospital stays and other benefits less than a year after implementing an online system that gives hospital executives real-time access to patient data. With the technology, "we're now able to easily manage day-to-day operations and the wide assortment of factors and influences that affect patient flow and the hospital's bottom line," chief information officer Lee Powe said.
