Travel industry adapting to green trend

The travel industry is getting in on the push for more environmentally friendly operations, either as a cost-cutting strategy or to satisfy consumers' demands, this feature says. Fuel-efficient planes have allowed the airline industry to prevent 670 billion pounds of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere while creating cost savings of more than $33 billion. In the hotel industry, green buildings are leading the way with low-flow bathroom fixtures, energy-saving lighting and interior decoration made from recycled materials.
