Glitch in concrete work at Ga. nuclear project

Southern Nuclear is seeking the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's approval to begin placing the foundation of the first of the two planned new reactors at Plant Vogtle in Georgia, even though the foundation differs from license requirements. The earth and concrete slab "is not as level as expected," according to Southern, which means the foundation could be thicker than the design specified.
