11-year study: Added weight raises risk of lower back pain

Patients who are overweight and obese are predisposed to developing chronic lower back pain, according to research from Oslo University Hospital. Data from the study, which lasted 11 years and included more than 25,000 people, also showed a link between BMI and recurrence of lower back pain in women.
