Antibiotic shows promise for treating fragile X syndrome

Children with fragile X syndrome who received minocycline had modest improvements in anxiety levels and mood-related behaviors compared with a placebo group, researchers report in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Some patients responded better to the medication than others, and researchers are looking for predictive biomarkers.
