AT&T has announced plans to offer fiber-based Internet service in Austin, Texas. The announcement came on the same day Google said it had selected the Texas capital city for a 2014 rollout of the Google Fiber service. "AT&T's expanded fiber plans in Austin anticipate it will be granted the same terms and conditions as Google on issues such as geographic scope of offerings, rights of way, permitting, state licenses and any investment incentives," the telecom said in a statement.
