Calif. city council committees endorse airport proposal

Two Los Angeles City Council panels support a plan to move a runway at Los Angeles International Airport 260 feet closer to adjacent neighborhoods. The $4.76 billion plan, which has drawn strong opposition from residents, would separate two northern runways so one could be built in the center.
