Educator ranks best historically black colleges and universities

Atlanta's Morehouse College tops Matthew Lynch's list of best Historically Black Colleges and Universities, published in this commentary. Lynch, a department chairman and an associate professor of education at Langston University, used various factors to choose his top 20 HBCUs, including financial aid, academic programs and diversity, he writes. Morehouse tops the list for its 83% freshman retention rate and a new course focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history in the black community, Lynch notes.
