Fla. district allows some students to opt out of state math test

A Florida district is fielding requests from parents of middle-school students who take advanced math -- algebra or geometry -- to waive a requirement that calls for students to take both the end-of-year exams and the state standardized math test. Education officials say taking both exams gives students and schools more options, but some parents believe double testing is unnecessary.
