Fla. Senate OKs budget amendment targeting new reactor project

A budget amendment that could heighten oversight of a proposed nuclear reactor construction project in Florida was approved by the Florida Senate. Under the amendment, the state's Public Service Commission would "perform a comprehensive review of the continuing prudency, cost effectiveness and need of any proposed nuclear power plant" that secured preconstruction ratepayer funding and met certain other criteria.
