Funding for distance learning reduced under Alberta budget

In Alberta, Canada, more than 53,000 students in high school, junior-high and elementary school participated in distance learning last year -- a number that some say could decline under a budget approved in March that reduces funding for distance-learning programmes by 56%. Officials with the province, however, say that the programme was receiving too much funding and that distance-learning programmes will remain available.
