Poll finds public support for pain drug restrictions

Fifty-two percent of Americans polled by advocacy group Research!America said they support restricting how health care providers may prescribe potentially addictive painkillers, and 85% indicated concern about abuse of the drugs. Unintentional deaths linked to prescription pain drugs have risen fourfold since 1999, the group noted.
