Four Colquitt County teachers are among 100 educators in Georgia who are participating in a two-year study to determine whether the taboo of talking in class could actually help students learn. The study, being conducted by researchers from the University of Georgia's College of Education, is intended to benefit students whose first language is not English. However, teachers say the method, known as Instructional Conversation, could benefit all students through its focus on higher-order questioning and small-group conversations.
