USA wants to put its own stamp on reality programming

USA Network, as it moves into the reality genre, wants its unscripted programming to fit in with the character-driven approach of its scripted series. The network on Thursday will unveil its first unscripted show, "The Moment," which follows nine people as they try to succeed in their dream careers. "Having such wide-scale audience, USA's goal is to create shows with broad appeal. Our reality shows also need to have a unique element that doesn't exist in the marketplace -- whether it be a central character or characters, or a theme or a story," said Heather Olander, USA's senior vice president of alternative programming.
