Zipwhip makes text messaging from landline phones possible

A cloud-messaging operation introduced a service today that allows landline phones to send and receive virtual text and multimedia SMS messages. Zipwhip is charging $20 a month for the unlimited service, which links to the messages through the cloud via a PC client or a Web browser. The technology uses the landline phone number as a way to identify messages that pass through cyberspace.
