N.Y., N.J. receive $200M grant for Trans-Hudson tunnel

A federal injection of $200 million will help the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey get to work this summer on a tunnel linking New York City with New Jersey. A mile-long section under the Palisades Mountain from North Bergen to Hoboken, N.J., will be the first leg of the project. The $8.7 billion mass transit tunnel, known as the Trans-Hudson Express Tunnel, is scheduled for completion in 2018.
