More boomers are taking to the road midcareer, as the lure and demands of work conflict with family commitments, forcing one spouse to pull away from home to another city. Such separation can stress a marriage, although many find it eventually all works out. "The majority of couples reunite after a certain amount of time," said Pepper Schwartz, AARP's relationship expert and a University of Washington sociology professor.
