Technology alone can't engage patients, Intel exec says

The doctor-patient relationship stands in the way of using technology and social media to their full potential despite the proliferation of smartphones and health care applications, says Eric Dishman, director of health innovation and policy for Intel's Digital Health Group. He says when team-based care models are used and patients actively become part of the medical decision-making process, then tools that educate, remind or coach patients begin to get interesting and useful.
