Bird-flu fears force e-commerce changes in China

Alibaba's Taobao Marketplace has banned live poultry auctions, and other online companies in China have followed suit amid concerns about the H7N9 bird flu strain that has killed nine people thus far. Additionally, 360buy Jingdong said it will cut back on face-to-face meetings with suppliers and stop serving poultry and pork in its cafeteria. Bird-flu fears may keep many Chinese away from public places, a trend that could speed growth of online retail, experts say.
