Heavy-lifting work to begin on Calif.'s $2.3B BART project

Crews will begin heavy-lifting work on the Santa Clara County portion of Bay Area Rapid Transit's $2.3 billion, 10-mile rail extension. Work includes moving 850,000 cubic yards of dirt, putting down 21,570 tons of steel and 100 miles of wire for power and communications equipment, and placing 200,000 cubic yards of concrete.
