Ind. county temporarily stops accepting wind power proposals

Officials of Tipton County, Ind., have agreed to stop accepting new applications for wind projects until after the county planning commission holds a public hearing in response to public concerns, including possible low-frequency sound from wind turbines. An audiology expert said there is not enough evidence to suggest such sound affects human health. The commission will listen to testimony on whether a freeze on new wind projects should be imposed while zoning laws are reviewed.
