Regulators face challenge of evolving social media

Financial-services firms and other businesses are putting increased pressure on regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, to offer guidance for use of social media. "Our goal is to have reasonable interpretations of existing rules but yet allow firms to use social media to the greatest extent possible while preserving investor protection," said Melissa McGregor, a lawyer at SIFMA.
