SEC adopts new rules designed to stop identity theft

The Securities and Exchange Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to adopt rules jointly with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission that are designed to prevent identity theft. The rules require broker-dealers, investment advisers and certain other entities regulated by the SEC to establish policies and procedures to detect and respond to identity theft.
