White House budget calls for Medicare cuts, SGR fix

The $3.8 trillion budget for fiscal 2014 proposed by the White House calls for $370 billion in Medicare spending cuts over the next 10 years and replacing sequestration reductions, including the 2% decrease in Medicare payments to physicians. The plan would freeze Medicare physician rates to give the CMS time to develop pay-for-performance plans to replace the sustainable growth rate formula.
