White House warns of possible $943M rescue for FHA

Stabilizing the Federal Housing Administration's finances might require $943 million from taxpayers, according to the Obama administration. The rescue wouldn't require congressional action because the FHA has authority to draw money from the Treasury. In its 79-year history, the FHA has never before needed taxpayer funds.
