Study: Common FTO gene responsible for some people gaining weight

British researchers said the common FTO gene helps determine why some people gain weight and others do not. Their research showed that people with the gene have a higher risk for obesity, that it is common in humans, and 63% of 39,000 white Europeans had one and sometimes two copies of FTO.
