Intel, Nissan to partner on connected-car technology

Intel announced that its Atom processors will appear in Nissan automobiles beginning next year as a component of the carmaker's connected "infotainment" system. The deal -- which will also see the companies collaborate on technologies including cloud-based services for vehicles and smartphone-enabled vehicle-surveillance systems -- is part of an effort by the chipmaker to expand its participation in the connected-car revolution that includes the launch of a $100 million investment fund.
