Groups call on physicians to regulate online interaction

The American College of Physicians and the Federation of State Medical Boards have urged physicians to be more aware of their online interactions to maintain professionalism and regulate patient-physician communication. The agencies said they do not entirely discourage doctors from being visible on the Web, but they want to offer best practices and standards for online conduct. The policy paper was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
