Media wars: Are we cat people, dog people or both?

Cats dominate the Internet, but dogs rule the printed page, according to writer Daniel Engber's digging on Internet search engines and in book databases. "It's a question of companionship versus observation," says editor Eamon Dolan, who has owned dogs and cats. "You develop a relationship with a dog, whereas you observe a cat. Dogs are companions; cats are beautiful, animate objects."
